The club's membership now includes players from all countries and at all levels. It is affiliated to the FFB Dauphin\u00e9-Savoie Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The club has a rich history and has seen some of bridge's greatest celebrities pass through its doors - some still have fond memories of the fierce games played by Omar Sharif.<\/p>\n<h2>Location and access<\/h2>\n<p>The Bridge Club is located in the centre of the village, at the following address <strong>28 impasse de la Romance, Hysope room, 3rd floor<\/strong>. The room is located in the gendarmerie building, with entrance from the rear of the building. Tournaments at 3.30pm. Closed on 14 July and 15 August.<\/p>\n<h3>Winter period<\/h3>\n<p>From 21 December to 31 March, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 7pm. Tournaments at 3.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>The club offers <strong>free play sessions and regular tournaments<\/strong>. Single players are welcome to complete the tables.<\/p>\n<h2>Bridge Club fees<\/h2>\n<p>Prices range from \u20ac5 to \u20ac8.50 for adults. More details:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FFB Club member: \u20ac4<\/li>\n<li>FFB licence holder who is not a Club member: \u20ac7.50<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Annual or seasonal membership is available.<\/p>\n<h2>Some special events<\/h2>\n<p>The club organises several events during the year:<\/p>\n<h3>Bridge Festival<\/h3>\n<p>The club is organising a festival with tournaments at the Chalet de la Livraz. Entry fee: 60 \u20ac\/person\/tournament or 100 \u20ac\/person for the 2 tournaments. To register, fill in the form, visit the FFB website or send us an e-mail.<\/p>\n<h3>Training courses<\/h3>\n<p>The club offers courses run by professionals such as Alexandre Kilani. The last course took place from 29 January to 1 February, and the next one will be held in winter 2026.<\/p>\n<h2>Playing bridge at Chalet Ararat<\/h2>\n<p>For Chalet Ararat guests who wish to play bridge during their stay:<\/p>\n<h3>Private parties at the Chalet<\/h3>\n<p>Chalet Ararat's main lounge is ideal for bridge games with family and friends. We provide :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tables and chairs suitable for bridge;<\/li>\n<li>Brand new decks of cards;<\/li>\n<li>Appropriate lighting for the game;<\/li>\n<li>A calm, comfortable atmosphere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Meg\u00e8ve Bridge Club<\/h3>\n<p>Guests wishing to join the local Bridge Club can go directly to the club during opening hours. The club welcomes visitors and accepts players without a partner.<\/p>\n<h2>Origins and principle of the game<\/h2>\n<p>Le <strong>modern bridge is descended from 16th-century English whist<\/strong>. Its current form, \u00abcontract bridge\u00bb, was developed in the 1920s. The game quickly spread around the world and became a recognised sport.<\/p>\n<p>Bridge <strong>is played by four players in two teams<\/strong> two partners facing each other. A classic 52-card deck is used. The aim is to <strong>carry out the number of lifts<\/strong> announced at the auction.<\/p>\n<h3>How a game is played<\/h3>\n<p>A game is divided into several phases:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Auctions<\/strong> Each player, in turn, can either pass or announce a contract (number of tricks + trump or no-trump suit). The team that wins the auction must make at least the number of tricks announced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The card game<\/strong> The player to declarer's left opens. His partner spreads his cards (\u00abdead\u00bb) and the declarer plays for both of them. Each player must follow the requested suit if they can.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The countdown<\/strong> Points awarded according to the success or failure of the contract, with bonuses and penalties.<\/p>\n<h3>Duration and format<\/h3>\n<p>A standard game lasts between 2 and 3 hours. In tournaments, we generally play pre-distributed \u00abdeals\u00bb to ensure fairness between the tables.<\/p>\n<h2>Why bridge in Meg\u00e8ve<\/h2>\n<p>Bridge is a natural part of Meg\u00e8ve's cultural offering.
